Editing as a part of Data Processing

Processing and analysis of data involves a number of interconnected operations that are performed with the purpose of summarising the gathered data, categorising it to simplify analysis and organising these in a manner that it answers the research questions.

One of the operations of data processing is Editing, which, in this context, refers to the examination process of collected raw data to identify errors so as to correct these in the next step. In other words, we can say that the analysing of data to detect flaws is one aspect of data processing, which is called Editing. While categorising and organising these to enable answers to research questions forms the second major aspect of data processing.
